Impact

This charity was developed while our founder, Martha Wright, completed her PGCE and Education Masters in Transformational Leadership. As a working teacher, she used ethnographic research methods to better understand systemic and individual well-being needs of children, staff and families the English education system serves.

As a forming charity, we consulted a range of people (including therapists, artists, key workers, Plum Village monastics and mindfulness teachers) to include a variety of perspectives in the formation of this project.

Our initial focus remains true today – ‘addressing wellbeing for all children, regardless of the socioeconomic background’.

We focussed on self-control at the start and this remains a core element of our work.

This video is from a project we did with our core partner, Spitalfields Music. Mindfulness terminology and teachings including ‘Island of the Self’ and What is Your Weather’ are inspired by Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh and Plum Village, a global community of mindfulness practice centres.
